Our Tools

The Design Centre for Sustainability focuses on generating and applying tools for:

• framing community sustainability;
• exploring alternative development and design scenarios;
• measuring the sustainability performance of community design prior to and following construction;
• engaging stakeholders collaboratively; and,
• implementing sustainability plans.

These tools are most effectively used during the early phases of planning and design to ensure that the resulting plans and activities optimize synergies and multi-integration, and effectively translate initial sustainability intentions into on-the-ground reality.
